Zebra Mussels found in Aquarium Moss Balls
"U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) scientists were notified the week of March 1, 2021 that invasive zebra mussels were found attached and inside moss balls sold as aquarium plants. The report came from a Seattle PetCo employee who found zebra mussels attached and inside “Betta Buddy Marimo Ball” moss plants. Once alerted, several other states have reported the presence of both live and dead zebra mussels at other retailers. " Click here for the full story on the NAISMA website.
LARA Board seeking applications for CWEPA Fund Grants
A major responsibility of the Crow Wing LARA board is to administer the CWEPA (Crow Wing Environment Protection Advised) Fund. These grant dollars are used to support environmental projects that lead to the protection, restoration, and preservation of natural resources and environmental assets within Crow Wing County. Approximately $3,000 per year is available to nonprofit or local government organizations wishing to complete an environmental project in Crow Wing County.
